Data we collect

Assessment responses: Your yes/no answers to 99 questions (stored anonymously until you provide an email)
City information: Optional city name, state, population range, and respondent role
Email address: Required to view full results; used to send your results report
Organization name: Optional, included in your results email
IP hash: A one-way hash of your IP address for abuse prevention (we never store your actual IP address)

How we use your data

Delivering your results: Your responses are used to calculate your maturity score, gap analysis, and personalized recommendations, which are sent to the email address you provide
Statistical analysis: We analyze aggregate, de-identified assessment data to study digital readiness trends across small U.S. municipalities. This includes patterns in maturity scores, common capability gaps, and dimension-level strengths and weaknesses
Anonymous case studies: We may publish case studies based on assessment data to illustrate common challenges and successes among small cities. These case studies are drawn from aggregate patterns or individually anonymized—no city name, email address, or other identifying information is ever included without your explicit written consent

“Anonymous” means we strip all identifying information—city name, respondent name, email address, and organization—before using data for research. Only population range, state or region, and assessment scores are retained for analysis.

Data retention

Incomplete assessments are marked abandoned after 30 days of inactivity and deleted after 90 days
Email addresses (for non-opt-in users) are cleared 90 days after assessment completion
Completed assessment scores are retained indefinitely in de-identified form for statistical analysis, benchmarking, and case study research. Identifying information (city name, email, organization) is removed from research datasets within 90 days of completion

Your rights

You can delete your assessment data at any time from your results page. Deletion is immediate and permanent—your assessment, all responses, and scores will be removed.

To delete your data, visit your results page (link in your email) and use the "Delete my data" option. You will be asked to confirm your email address.

Deletion removes your assessment from all future analysis. Aggregate statistics or case studies already published before your deletion request cannot be retroactively modified, but since they contain no identifying information, they cannot be traced back to you.

Analytics

This site uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics tool. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and is fully compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and PECR. No data is shared with advertising networks.

Email communications

We send one transactional email containing your assessment results. This email is not marketing and is required to deliver the service you requested.

If you choose to opt in to updates, your email address will be shared with our newsletter platform. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email. Opting in is entirely optional and does not affect your assessment results.
